Officer Louis Gonzalez was arrested on Thursday, Dec. 22, and charged with third-degree assault and second-degree unlawful restraint, the Stamford Police Department reported.
Police said the charges stem from an incident that happened on Saturday, Dec. 17.
Gonzalez has been a member of the department since April 2021, authorities reported.
He has been placed on administrative leave pending the outcome of the charges and an administrative inquiry by the department’s internal affairs division, police said.
"The Stamford Police Department takes allegations of domestic violence very seriously and a complete and thorough internal affairs investigation will follow the criminal investigation into this matter," the department said.
